Zero Y-Seams:
Engineered for manageable assembly without sacrificing the classic aesthetic.

FPP & Design Simplified
While I was immediately captivated by the original quilt, I recognized that a more streamlined method was necessary to overcome the intimidation factor that often hinders completion. By leveraging modern technology, I created a system centered on precision and efficiency. A key departure from the 1863 original is the addition of sashing between the central grid and the triangle border, which provides a balanced, well-framed finish.

Foundation
Paper Piecing (FPP) and Construction
While Jane hand-pieced her original, I prefer a faster, machine-based method. I opted for Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) to ensure perfectly sharp seam alignment without exhaustive manual calculations.
Furthermore, my version is engineered with zero Y-seams, using
non-traditional construction to make the assembly manageable without
sacrificing the classic aesthetic.

Modern Shortcuts for Complex Designs

Because my primary goal was to
make this quilt "finishable," I took certain liberties with
traditional block construction. My version often uses non-traditional piecing
to reduce the sheer number of tiny fragments.

Simplified Geometry:
For example, in Block H07 (the common eight-pointed star), I combined two triangles and the central square into a single diamond shape. This reduces the piece count and makes foundation piecing significantly
smoother.

Smart Appliqué:
To save you from the frustration of joining tiny, fussy curved seams, I have designed most of the curved elements to be appliquéd. Only the larger curves, which are manageable by machine, remain as traditional seams.

Customizing Your Masterpiece:
While this pattern is drafted for 4.5” finished blocks, you can easily adapt the size to suit your personal preference by using the provided full-size blocks as your templates.

Love these blocks. Like others I started with the easier blocks and worked my way thru them. They go together so easy.

These blocks are addictive! I started with what seemed like the easier blocks first, then “graduated” to the more difficult ones. The Jane Stickle blocks in Tula Pink fabrics is absolutely gorgeous.

This is one of the best BOM I have participated in. The customer service is outstanding. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. I have wanted to make a Dear Jane quilt for ages, but I do not like EPP. So when I found this version with my favorite Foundation piecing and in Tula Oink fabrics. It was a must do for me.

A Jane Stickle quilt without Y seams?!?!? Yes, please!!

This looks like an organized method for the completion of this quilt. As there is actually no instruction in the original book completing each block was done at whatever skill level each quilter was. I have completed this quilt with the help of a wonderful group of ladies. This method would have made the journey much easier Thank you!
When a quilter has completed this quilt, they will have progressed greatly in their skill level
